Instructions for authors
GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS
Papers are published in Russian or English. They should be supplied with a summary adequately reflecting the content of the paper in language different from the main language of the paper. Title, author(s)'s address, captions and diagnoses of new taxa are also published in both Russian and English. For foreign authors, all Russian translations can be provided by the Editors.
Manuscripts should not be published or submitted elsewhere. Manuscript should be submitted preferably by e-mail (to Yu. Kantor kantor@malaco-sevin.msk.ru or A. Fedosov fedosov_zool@mail.ru) or by snail mail in printed version. If the manuscript is submitted by e-mail please insert images into Microsoft Word or PDF document. When the manuscript will be finally accepted the illustrations should be provided in TIF format. Whether the size of the image file will exceed 15 Mb, they should be provided on a CD.
All manuscripts are reviewed.
Authors should strictly follow the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature. If the paper contains descriptions of new taxa of species-group, author should indicate the Museum where types (type series) are deposited, and museum numbers of type specimens. First mention of a species and genus in the manuscript should be supplied with its author and year of description. The new names should be typed in bold italics and accompanied by indication sp. nov., gen. nov., etc., eg A-us b-us Semenov, gen. et sp. nov. In figure captions the authors’ names are not provided, but the new taxon name should be accomplished by indications sp. nov., gen. nov.
FORMAT OF THE PAPER. Follow the current issues of Ruthenica.
ILLUSTRATIONS. Illustrations are accepted completely prepared for publiscation, should be of high quality and only in the TIF format (without separate layers). Resolution should be 600 dpi for bitmaps and 300-350 dpi for halftones and colored illustrations. Colored illustrations will be published on the WEB and reproduced as black and white in paper edition. Any illustration is referred to as Fig. Separate parts should be marked by UPPER CASE LATIN LETTERS (eg Fig. 1 A). Illustrations should be in final format either for page width (160 mm) or column (75 mm). The name of the file should include the author’s name and the figure number, eg Petrov_fig01.tif.
